Sam De Silva

Sam qualified as a dentist from the University of Adelaide, Australia with the degree of Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1996. Halfway through his undergraduate studies, he was one of the two students selected to study towards the intercalated degree of the Bachelor of Science in Dentistry (Hons); where he researched the nerve supply to the face and teeth. On graduation, he moved to the UK where he joined a dental practice in Wolverhampton before moving to Stoke-on-Trent in 1999. Sam believes in minimally invasive, ethical dentistry and has a keen interest in general, cosmetic and restorative dentistry as well as facial aesthetics.

Sam completed the Higher Diploma in Restorative Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons in 2007. He began providing facial aesthetic treatments in 2008 using botulinum toxin and dermal fillers.

To improve his knowledge in this field he undertook further studies towards the Postgraduate Certificate in Facial Aesthetics Masterclass with the Faculty of General Dental Practice (FGDP) of the Royal College of Surgeons, completing this qualification in 2010. In 2013, he successfully completed the Diploma of the Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practice of the Royal College of Surgeons, becoming a fellow of FGDP(UK). In 2021 when the FGDP separated from the Royal College of surgeons to form the College of General Dentistry, he became one of the founding fellows of this institution. His interest in restorative dentistry prompted him to study towards the Master of Science in Clinical Dentistry (Restorative Dentistry) at the University of Leeds, which he completed in 2017. In April 2021, he was awarded the Fellowship of Dental Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons (England), the pinnacle of achievement for a Dental Surgeon. Sam is a Member of the British Society of Restorative Dentistry, General Dental Council, British Dental Association and Dental Protection Society. He is a fellow of the College of General Dentistry (UK) and the Royal College of Surgeons (England). Outside of dentistry, Sam enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf with his two children and friends. He has a passion for kart racing and is the proud winner of two Denplan Karting Championships. He is also a keen runner and likes to stay fit with regular visits to the gym.
