Sunita graduated as a dentist with the degree of BDS from the University of Adelaide in 1996. She worked in Kathmandu and Singapore before moving to the UK in 1998. After working for short periods in Manchester and Wolverhampton, she moved to Stoke-on-Trent to join the NHS Combined Healthcare Trust where she delivered emergency dental care treating patients with dental pain, swellings and trauma. Since 2000, Sunita has been working in general practice providing care for NHS and private patients. She is gentle, empathetic and endeavours to improve herself constantly with the aim of providing quality care in a relaxed and friendly setting.

Her experience in the Dental Access Centre and general practice made her realise the adverse effect of dental anxiety on dental health, resulting in her developing an interest in helping this group of patients. To improve her knowledge and skills further, she undertook MSc in Medical and Human Science specializing in ‘Control of Pain and Anxiety including Conscious Sedation’ in 2010 from University of Manchester. This was focused on the management of severely anxious patients through behavioural (CBT) and pharmacological (IV sedation and RA) techniques.

Sunita has been managing weekly phobia clinics in Hanley Health Centre exclusively treating dental phobic patients under IV and RA sedation for over 10 years. In addition, she also works at The Dental Centre providing general dental services (including treatment under IV and RA sedation) on a private basis as well as under Denplan. She has recently completed training on providing short term orthodontics and is a registered provider of Six Months Smile and Fast Braces.

She is a member of General Dental Council, Dental Protection Society, Dental Sedation Teachers Group (DSTG) and Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry (SAAD).

Outside dentistry she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves to travel and paint especially water colours and is learning to play piano.
